1. How do Bidshares auctions work?

Why an auction?
An auction offers an exciting and unique approach to advertising. In this format, a buyer and seller can agree on the true price of a timeshare without any guesswork. The element of negotiation is built right in to the auction process, as opposed to fixed price classified ads.

Why Bidshares?
Bidshares offers what no other website can:

Superior technology - Automatic management of your auction and bidders makes advertising fun.

Broad exposure - Bidshares has top placement in all the major search engines and receives far more traffic than any "classified ad" style site on the Internet.

Free to list and/or bid - Bidshares is one of a few companies that allow you to advertise your timeshare for free and do not charge any fees for bidding or searching.

How do I find a property?
Start your search by using the link "Search Auctions" located on the top navigation bar. It is free to search and you do NOT need to register to email an owner a question. You may use the site as a guest and remain anonymous.

What if I don't find the property I want?
New auctions are added daily and we would be happy to do the searching for you. Sign up for our auction notifications and we will deliver new auctions that meet your search criteria to your inbox.

How do I bid?
Email the owner any questions you have in advance. If you are ready to bid, be sure to create your free account and then place your bid. You can monitor your bidding activity, email the owner, or increase your bid by logging into your account.

What if I bid less than the reserve price?
The owner may choose to accept or decline your bid amount at auction close. Click here to learn read what to do as the high bidder.

What if I meet the reserve price or the owner accepts my high bid?
Congratulations, you are declared the winner. Contact information is available by logging into your account. Contact the owner immediately.

How do I handle the final transaction safely?
You may want to use a reputable closing company to offer a secure means of exchange at a discounted price. This offer is available to Bidshares users only. You send your payment to the closing company who holds your funds in escrow while the paperwork is reviewed by you. If you approve the documentation, the funds are released to the seller. If you need an escrow service, this service can be provided as well.

2. Why did the auction extend past the closing time?

Bids placed within the last 30 minutes of the auction will automatically extend the auction past the estimated ending time. This will give all bidders the opportunity to place another bid. The auction will continue to extend until all bids have been placed.

If you are unable to wait for an extended auction to end, enter the maximum bid amount you are willing to pay and then Bidshares will bid on your behalf up to your maximum bid amount as necessary.

3. How do I check availability of a floating week?

Email the owner of the auction prior to placing a bid. Be flexible with your dates and have the owner check for availability. If the week is available, ask the owner to end the auction after you place your bid so that the week can be reserved immediately.

9. Can an auction be ended early?

An auction can be ended early if the bidder and owner have agreed on a final bid amount. The owner should login to "My Account" and click the link to accept the current bid on the auction.

The following applies to ending your auction early:
If there is a bid on your auction but it does not meet your reserve price, you must accept or decline the bid when prompted. If there is a bid on your auction that meets your reserve price or you are running a no reserve auction and there is a bid, the bid is automatically accepted. If you are negotiating a final bid amount with another user and wish to end the auction early to finalize, ask the bidder to place the bid and then end the auction and accept the bid amount.

10. How long does an auction run?

The owner can run an auction for 5, 7, or 14 days. Most bidding activity occurs within the last three days of an auction, but if you are truly interested in a timeshare for auction, email the owner and try to negotiate. The owner has the option of ending the auction early if you both come to an agreeable price.
